You want an out-of-the-box solution
FileOpen Publisher3 contains everything you need to encrypt and distribute
your PDF files, with no additional scripting or programming required.
You don’t want to use your own Web server
Publisher3 is a hosted solution. The database that you create by importing
users and files into the system resides on the FileOpen Publisher3 PermissionServer,
and all permissions communications take place between the PermissionServer
and the client plug-in on the end-user’s machine (although the end-user
never sees this interaction).
You need an easy desktop interface
Publisher3 lets you point-and-click your way through the process of encrypting
documents, applying permissions, and managing your users. It even has
a tool for appending your secured files to an email message to send to
your users. It doesn’t take any technical expertise to operate Publisher3.
You require subscription management tools
Publisher 3 is ideal for organizing your PDF subscriptions. The program
lets you assign users to different “Document Groups,” allowing
varying degrees of access to the same document. Users’ access permissions
can be set to expire at a certain date or after a number of views or prints.
You can update your list of authorized users at the click of the mouse,
even revoking access after a document has been delivered.
You want to restrict access to a certain group of people
With Publisher3, you can automatically import your Outlook Contacts list
and distribute your secured document by email only to that group. You
can also apply different access rights to each user within the group.
For example, you could send a confidential price list to executives at
your company headquarters with no access limitations, but send the same
price list to your outside suppliers with an embargo date before which
they cannot view the file.
You need a quick way to deliver your secured documents
Publisher3 lets you grant a user permission via email, but your secured
files can reside on your Web site or CD-ROM. For example, if you sell
a PDF from your website, you can email the customer a receipt which contains
a link to the secured file up on your site. Or, you can send CD-ROMs of
your secured documents out to a group of prospective customers, and sell
access to the CD from your website.
